Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu scored twice as Trabzonspor defeated Konyaspor 2-1 in the 2026 Turkish Cup final at Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadium, securing the club’s 10th Turkish Cup title.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a composed finish, giving Trabzonspor an early advantage. Konyaspor responded shortly after halftime when Congolese forward Jackson Muleka equalized in the 49th minute.
The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Onuachu converted a penalty to restore Trabzonspor’s lead. Konyaspor had earlier missed a golden opportunity to go ahead when Enis Bardhi failed to convert a penalty in the 58th minute.
A Stellar Season for Onuachu
The cup triumph capped an outstanding campaign for Onuachu, who joined Trabzonspor permanently in June 2025. The Nigerian striker finished as the Süper Lig’s top scorer with 22 league goals and added four more in the Turkish Cup, playing a central role in the club’s successful season.

First Trophy for Fatih Tekke
The victory also marked the first major trophy for head coach Fatih Tekke. It was a particularly satisfying achievement after Trabzonspor’s 3-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the previous season’s final.
Nigerian Representation
Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, who joined the club in January and made 20 appearances during the season, also collected a winner’s medal.
Meanwhile, the final marked the end of an era for veteran Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme. Making his final appearance for Trabzonspor, Nwakaeme concluded two successful spells with the club, having registered 50 goals and 48 assists in 193 appearances while helping the team win the Süper Lig title, the Turkish Cup, and the Turkish Super Cup.

Looking Ahead
Having finished third in the Süper Lig and lifted the Turkish Cup, Trabzonspor will enter European competition next season with renewed momentum and the confidence that comes from a successful domestic campaign.
