The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has reversed a key decision on club spending limits just one day after implementing it.
In a meeting held Sunday, the TFF revoked its newly introduced “Temporary Article 25,” which had aimed to remove the 30% acceptable deviation applied to team spending limits. The original change was announced Saturday and was set to take effect during the upcoming interim transfer window.
Quick Reversal of Controversial Rule
Saturday’s decision would have required all Turkish clubs to strictly adhere to their team spending limits starting from the second transfer and registration period of the 2024/25 season. However, following significant backlash, the federation decided to maintain the existing 30% flexibility.
In its statement, the TFF confirmed that the article had been repealed and that the deviation rule from the start of the season would remain in effect. This move gives clubs more financial leeway as they prepare for mid-season transfers.
Winter Transfer Window Dates
According to the official TFF calendar, the interim transfer window for the Turkish Süper Lig will open on January 13, 2025, and close on February 11, 2025.
The reversal is seen as a relief for many clubs navigating tight financial constraints and looking to strengthen their squads mid-season.
